COMMONWEALTH STACKS_REBIRTH

stacks

Michael Leon has been running the good show in skateboarding for a long time now, whether you knew it or not. He directed Rasa Libre in the beginning when it was at its finest, designed hands down my favorite DC shoe ever made (still wish i would have bought more of those!), and was the creative force at Nike SB for the past couple years. There are lots of other important contributions he’s made that you can read about on his personal site.

Throughout all that he has had time to do a small, personal brand with friends and family called Commonwealth Stacks. Since 2000 it has produced quality designs worth talking about. Graphics with a purpose and reason, even if the themes were imaginary. Always great, always fresh, always 5 years beyond what anyone else was doing. At its ten year anniversary, the brand has been relaunched into a full blown skateboard company:

Friends,

Skateboarding has always been central to our point of view on the world.
It’s the lens through which we make sense of our surroundings
and it taught us how to think around, over, and through.

But you already knew that.

It’s fairly simple. We wake, we work, we share ideas and nurture friendships,
and at some point in the day we find ourselves moving with a rush and a push.

Now let’s get started….

Stacks will enter the new decade as a skateboard company.

Silo is proud to be a part of this brands re-launch, and we are anxious to share it with you all… very soon.

There is also a great interview at the slap site with michael, click here.

^ note from the clip—we’ve spotted Lewis Marnell riding silo edition thunders before, but its been a couple years…

ANDY WARHOL_THE ALIEN WORKSHOP

Andy Warhol for The Alien Workshop
“Art is what you can get away with.” – Andy Warhol

Alien Workshop is proud to introduce the initial, limited-edition collaboration offering with The Andy Warhol Foundation for the Visual Arts, Inc.

As the preeminent American artist of the 20th Century, Andy Warhol challenged the world to see art differently. This distinctive project presents a new approach to skateboard/artist collaborations by pairing unique examples of Warhol’s groundbreaking artwork with each of the ten iconoclast pro riders sponsored by Alien Workshop.

“We are delighted to see Andy Warhol’s non-conformist spirit embraced by the talented and creative team at Alien Workshop. These pro decks are a testament to the profound influence Warhol continues to have on our culture,” said Michael Hermann, Director of Licensing at The Andy Warhol Foundation.

Featuring five pro decks with works from Warhol’s Death & Disaster Series and five pro decks showcasing his iconic Pop works, the complete set is shipped in custom printed board box packaging inspired by Warhol’s box sculptures from the 1960’s.

Each deck features full dip paint, top and bottom graphics and a collector deck wrap.
These skateboards are produced under a license from The Andy Warhol Foundation for the Visual Arts, Inc., The Campbell Soup Company and the Marilyn Monroe LLC.

RELEASE INFO COMING SOON! AVAILABLE IN COMPLETE SETS AT SILO.
